  This is David's horse, Chic.  When we stayed in Indiana for a month training horses, David used Chic a lot.  He likes to start horses off of another saddle horse.  This is not only good for the colts, but it gets his horses ridden too.

  This is Taggart.  He is our new 4 year old roan and has about 30 days on him so far.  He is coming along really well. 

• 

  This is an Arab that David trained for a month.  He is getting the horse good about coming up to the block (or log, or tailgate of a truck) so that it is easy to get on her.  Photo taken by Patricia Moerman.

  This is April's horse, Sophie.  She is an 8 year old quarter horse.

• 

  David loves going to ropings, and he has done well at many of them too.  This is Chic at a roping down in Carbondale, CO.

  David has done a cowboy skills clinic for little kids where he teaches them to rope and talks a little bit about what it means to be a cowboy.  

• 

  David likes to use a saddle horse to work with an unbroke horse.  That way he doesn't have to pull as hard from the ground and it makes the horse good about having another horse and rider near him.  

•

  This is David at a ranch roping chasing down a steer.  Although, his wife is a little bias, she thinks he is the best roper ever.

  This is David's Mustang that he started when he was 13.  She is a well-rounded horse on which he can do a variety of jobs.

  David got together with some friends and practiced roping steers so we got a bunch of pictures.

  Taking a shot- I will say that David has practiced on the dummy enough that it seems like he can take a shot from anywhere.

  This 4 year old is a Friesian cross.  David has been working on getting him gentle in order to eventually be a good trail horse.

  David is working on getting this horse to be with him, getting him soft on his hands and willing to do what he asks.

• 

  David has worked as a cowboy, and this comes in handy when he is training horses and can use some of his roping skills to help the horses get better.

  Roping is one of David's passions- he is really good at it too.  It helps to get his horses settled and able to handle anything.
